To celebrate Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary, PowerUP teamed up with Disney Parks to drop magical Native Playable Experiences (NPX) straight into Fortnite. Across four top-performing UGC games, we transformed classic brand storytelling into a fully playable celebration, highlighting and teasing real life experiences available at the park. Players chased hidden treasures, cracked interactive trivia and unlocked moments inspired by seventy years of wonder, all without leaving their favourite games. Through PowerUp, we were able to engage and teach players about the brand in an interactive, fun way proving that iconic stories can level up inside gaming.

Strategic Intent

Disneyland set out to bring the magic of its 70th Anniversary into Fortnite in a way that felt as joyful and immersive as the park itself. The challenge was clear: celebrate a legacy brand inside a gaming ecosystem without disrupting how players play. Leveraging the launch of Disney’s Game Rush Island, the Trivia Challenge and Treasure Hunt prioritized the gamer’s journey and respected the creator ecosystem, positioning Disney as a partner that enhances gameplay rather than interrupting it.

The Experience

Trivia Challenge

We invited players to test their knowledge of Disneyland’s 70-year history through interactive trivia booths integrated directly into the gameplay flow. Correct answers unlocked immediate in-game rewards, providing players with tangible value and turning the park’s history into a source of competitive advantage and engagement. By testing their knowledge, we were able to not only engage the players, but teach them about the brand in a fun and interactive way.

Treasure Hunt

We transformed standard map exploration into a journey of discovery. Using a custom-branded UI, we guided players through a series of “magical” checkpoints across the map increasing time spent with the brand as they went from place to place. The hunt culminated in a major reveal: a celebratory tribute to the 70th Anniversary that offered players unique bragging rights and personalized rewards. By embedding the brand into the core loop of discovery, we created a memorable NPX (Native Playable Experience) that felt like a natural extension of the game world.

Impact

The Disneyland 70th Anniversary lit up Fortnite by turning gameplay into an interactive celebration of the park’s 70-year legacy. Players didn’t just see the brand, they chose to spend time with it, learning its history and milestones through trivia and treasure hunts seamlessly woven into core gameplay. Because the experience enhanced rather than interrupted play, engagement was deeper and more meaningful. Players walked away with rewards and a stronger connection to Disneyland, proving that when the magic becomes playable, brand affinity extends far beyond the screen.
